For those of you who came out last night, (over 60 people) our Wilmington Twestival was an incredible display of how social media can impact people, and organizations for the good. Twestivals were held simultaneously last night (February 13, 2009) for Charity: Water, in an effort to raise awareness, and donations for cleaner water in under-developed lands. Twitter was the main “tool” of social media we used to organize this event in literally 10 days..amazing. Pictures of last night are at bottom of this post, if you have any to add to this, send them! Leave comments too.
How much did our Twestival Raise?
We just got our final donation called in this morning from Ana Dawson, with Pre-Paid Legal Services, she and her associates donated $220, and plan on giving a total of $500.00! So with that amount and 100% donations off ticket sales last night we will be able to donate $1,205.00!!!
Our goal was $4,000, but in all honesty, we met, and exceeded our goal. This amount will help fund clean drinking water for 1000’s of people, Wilmington, we should be proud! Remember this was a global event, I can’t wait to see the total numbers from the over 180 cities….Be sure to visit the Twestival site, and Charity: Water site for details soon.

In the meantime, take a look at our local promotional video, as this will about bring you to tears, and explain why we are doing this.
It’s true. When you typically think of IT type people and marketing people, you sometimes think of right brain/left brain reactions right? Well, I am glad to have as a connection, and colleague, Richard Perry from Akira Media web design in Wilmington, NC. Our working together is PROOF that we can all get along, us SEO’s and web designers.
Now I am not totally sure if he agrees that he is an "IT" guy, so I can’t wait to see his comments, but semantics aside, the bottom line is that you can, and should get along with each other to effectively reach your intended results, CLIENT SATISFACTION.
You see, if you are an search marketer and have a working relationship with your web designer, more than likely you will be able to tackle a client with experience, and accomplish the most good for the client. In addition, I can say working with Richard on projects, he knows what to expect from me, and I know what to expect from him, so we save tons of time.
What a bland title, search engine optimization services Wilmington, NC..Why this title? Well, this happens to be the city I live in, and I have been pleasantly surprised at the interest lately with internet marketing, namely SEO here.
There are just a few web marketing companies here, and just a couple seem to cater towards focusing on search engine marketing, but I think Wilmington is growing up! This is something I have been waiting for for about 4 years now! In the last year, I have received more inquries for my services here more than ever, and just the last month or two, an overwhelming amount. I say bring it…We need to grow up here in Wilmington, and need to realize the time is now to optimize your site, and I am more than happy to help! If you want to go at it alone, remember we also offer internet marketing training in Wilmington, NC!
With the real estate landscape extremely difficult, it is increasingly difficult for agents, brokers, and internet marketers to throw efforts into a sinking ship, but remember, real estate always rebounds. That is why I am active as ever trying to create resources to keep my clients happy, and build my real estate niche.
WIth that, I found ActiveRain. This is an incredible resource for real estate agents, marketers, brokers, mortgage gurus, you name it, to post your story, resume, portfolio, even set up your own real estate blog!
Take a look at my portfolio & Blog:
Today I came across an interesting and savvy website that allows you to create free templates, and real estate flyers. Yeah I know, free web flyers are not new, for example I use Vflyer all the time; however POSTLETS is geared towards the real estate market, which is my focus for now. If you are dabbling in real estate, you have to give these a try! Not only do they create web 2.0 type web flyers, but once you have completed the 5 steps, you can choose your own color scheme, and then it will put your flyer in queue to be uploaded (syndicated) to the top real estate aggregators such as Zillow, Oodle, Trulia and more. Oh, did I tell you this is free??
Take a look at two ads I created:
Absolutely. With the nation struggling in real estate sales, please real estate people, please do not roll over and abandon marketing efforts. With online searching increasing 25-26% every year, now is the time to look to the internet more than ever before.
Well then, what opportunities are there to bulk up your web presence? Below I list several websites, and measurable products you really need to consider to keep a step ahead of your competitors. Take special note of the first one, blogs! I read an interesting article that talks about the wisdom of starting a real estate blog. In this article, it refers to a CNN article that gave stats that show leads and sales increased as a result of real estate blogs.
Ok, so lets get with the tips, and sites to advertise on. (Keep in mind this is a partial list, I will add to this as time goes by)
- Google, Yahoo, MSN pay per click campaigns
- Google Base
What a fantastic client we have. Mason Landing Yacht Club is one heck of a community, and the amenities they offer will be plenty. Our goal will be to drive potential buyers to the site, and encourage them to invest in an exclusive waterfront community in Wilmington, NC. This will be a fun project, and I am sure along the way I will post findings, and cool techniques to get them traffic!
Take a look at their location, and website. The site was designed by Wilmington’s best web design company, Akira Media.
Well, are you? With the trend moving toward videos being an organic search engine result, as well as a Google Adwords option, I suggest you start thinking of adding a video to your website.
I do not claim to be an expert on making videos, but I have several resources that do. If you are considering video, there are some things you may wish to consider first.
- Is your website optimized?
Why start a website video project when you have not even optimized your site or blog?
- Will you produce videos yourself, or will you have a online web video company create one for you?
If you do this yourself, be prepared to spend time getting the lighting, and sound just right, even then it may not look good.
- Are you creative? Artistic?
If not, don’t worry. Some of the biggest viral videos on YouTube are from idiots. Side note though, if you are doing this to promote your business, you might want to get a creative mind in the mix.
